Children Learn A Lot From Parents – Are Parents Interested In Becoming Better Teachers?

It is universally known that parents are the best teachers that help children learn all their lives. Can you confidently say that you have planned your child’s education till the very end? When people come across this question, they presume that they are being about financial support for their child’s college education.

Well, conventional education system works on regularity, discipline and continuity. Schools encourage your child to spend five to seven hours a day at a specific place for a specific purpose for more than a decade at a stretch. Do you think your child will learn a lot if his or her education involved random lessons taught by different individuals under different circumstances without any plan whatsoever? Obviously not.

This means that you will have to plan all the lessons that you intend to teach your child at home. Education that the child receives from parent is as important as lessons learned at school. While you need not divide your day into lectures, you certainly can come up with a specific plan and target as far as your child’s educational progress is concerned.

Just as the No Child Left Behind act seeks to establish minimum standards for education of children in the country, you can follow your own minimum standards where each and every year will see you becoming a better teacher. Needless to say, you will have to seek support from your family members.

If you have a large family, your child will enjoy multiple avenues of information and knowledge. The onus is upon you to help him or her explore these wonderful avenues. Never let your child conclude that education is something that takes place only in schools. Rather, you should try to make it a continuous process where learning takes place without any fear or pressure. Be rest assured, you cannot achieve this goal unless you are ready to work hard.
